Competency 1: Final Project Career Plans
Your Career Plan will be a detailed plan of high school and beyond that will map out your goals and how you can achieve them. Your career plan will be creatively displayed with an image that matches your overall plan.

3. Plan: a) What can you take in high school to achieve you goals? What subjects can you take? Anything in CRTC? ELO's? Who can you go to see to achieve this? b) What kind of training can you get beyond high school? NOTE: Training options are NOT limited to college-different jobs require different training please consider all options: 1. on-the-job training (some businesses will train you), mentor, tech school, community college, college, any other options? COMPETENCY 3: INCOME AND CAREERS
Spreadsheets, Expenses and Graphs
1. Open up Excel/ Google Sheets on your desktop.

3. We will learn how to make a data set and how to create a graph using your data.
4. After we do the expenses graph, you will need to get a data set by asking your classmates a question and create your own graph from the data.

Family Reality Check - Budget Sheet
The purpose of this exercise is for students to gain an understanding of the fundamentals of adult living within a family unit. Students will be challenged to live within their financial means, utilize a written cash flow plan, and work with other students to achieve a mutual goal. The budget sheet will need to be filled out for the family. Every day of the project families will have tasks to complete and a surprise task they will draw.
1. The class will be divided by families. Each family will draw an income and expenses guideline.
2. The basic budget information is on an excel sheet for this activity.
3. Each family will need to divide their income by 12 to determine the monthly amount.
4. Each family will need to determine the taxes on their gross pay. Each will pay 20% income tax so to figure out their net pay you will need to multiply their income by 80%.
5. Each family must use the budget sheet below to create a budget based on the information you have. Even if you run out of money you must account for everything. After completing this budget you must see Mrs. Massey for approval.
6. Once you have approval of your budget you will be allowed to cut two things out.
7. After you receive your second approval you will be given your "unexpected surprise expenses".
8. Work these into your budget.

COMPETENCY 4: DIGITAL PORTFOLIO
Digital Portfolios: There is a state requirement that all 8th graders must have a technology portfolio to movie up into high school. Everything that we do in MS Career and Tech can fit into categories in this portfolio but you can use any project done in another class from any year if it fits a category. You will create a folder in google docs and share it to me, my email is [email protected]. We will be working on this project throughout the course.
When you have completed all the work in this course, you will need access to this survey. Your answers will be anonymous. This information is very important to improving how the class runs. Please be thoughtful and truthful in comments.
